Chesapeake City at a Glance
Chesapeake City is unique among the Eastern Shore communities we will visit in the “Spotlight” series. A quaint historic town, it boasts a lively main street with interesting shops and diverse restaurants. But what makes it unique is the fact that it is bisected by a major shipping lane, the C&D (Chesapeake and Delaware) Canal, which connects (you guessed it) the Chesapeake Bay and the Delaware River/Bay). It is not uncommon for guests to look up from their dinner to see a large commercial ship passing what seems to be only a stone’s trow away!
